Here is a 20" tall German bisque head child doll in need of some TLC & restoration. I do not know the past restoration history of this doll but will describe her the best I can. Incised on the back shoulder plate with the Dressel symbol, reference attributes to Cunno Otto & Dressel 1873 to 1945 Sonnenberg, Thuringia Germany. This is an antique bisque shoulder head on old pink cloth muslin body, lower legs are sawdust filled, with old papier-mache hands. Fingers are kind of rough with scuffing on the finger tips. The arms need to be ATTACHED to the upper cloth muslin arms, Both arms have come loose since these photos and need to be attached. Some loose stitching on the limbs and wear on the old body need mending. Past restoration I notice on the knee areas, and there is a cut through the right lower leg that needs some MENDING/restoration. I have a piece of tape over the leg to keep the sawdust in place. This doll has a beautiful face with fixed open blue glass eyes, black painted lashes around the eyes, brown feathered brows and open mouth with upper teeth. There are red accent dots in the corner of her eyes. I do not see any rubs or scratches on her cheeks. I removed the pate from her head to find past line crack repair inside the head, see photo #7. A few smaller like cracks that have been repaired starting at the rim to upper forehead area. There is plaster inside the head used to secure the eyes as most doll people use. Old glue residue on the rim and throughout the forehead area with white areas most likely being wig pulls. Antique light blonde mohair wig is glued secure on the pate with a piece of hair pulled through the center of this pate. Wig shows some wear but is overall charming and slips over the head nicely. Doll wears a Lovely drop waist vintage pin stripe white dress with lace & embroidered trim. There are snaps down the back and a pink bow around the waist. Dress could use a light cleaning. There is a full slip, pantaloons, hat and stockings but no shoes. I have taken plenty of photos. Please look at my photos they will serve as part of this description.
