This is a 232" bisque socket head on a ball jointed wood and composition German body. She is marked on the back of her head: Pansy, M (?), Germany. She was made by Armand Marseille George Borgfeldt & Co. of New York (1881 - 1930). This company bought complete dolls and doll parts to assemble from all over the world. During their time they sold more dolls than any other doll distributor in this country. Pansy was made for the U.S. market. She has multi-stroke molded eyebrows, her original glass blue sleep eyes (they work) with lashes painted all around, red eye and nose dots, an open mouth with outlined lips, four set teeth and a red felt tongue. Her head is beautiful and has all of its original face painting. She does, however, have a "scar" on her right cheek. Something took the color right down to the white porcelain. I have tried to add some color to this spot. Invisible to the naked eye, but showing up in photo # 7 is a fine hairline that runs up from the damaged cheek to the rim of the head. It only shows up in the photos. I've had her for a while and nothing changes so I'd say she's stable at this point. Her body is in good condition, it's been repainted and I think the lower left leg is a replacement. Her custom made clothing has all been made specifically for this doll. Her matching underwear of pantaloons and full slip are made of pale blue cotton. She wears gray ribbed long socks and white tie shoes. Her high waisted dress is trimmed with hand-made embroidery. Her head is stuffed with tissue paper for transit, her buckrum pate is lightly attached to the head and the replaced wig is glued to that. This is a beautiful doll made by a German company and sold exclusively in the U.S. I do not ship out of the continental US unless you inquire first. The doll stand is not includedOn Jul-16-14 at 20:37:47 PDT, seller added the following information: Note: Sorry about my typo as to the size of the doll... she's 22" tall. There is already a bid on her so I cannot change the text so this added note is the next best thing.

Let me introduce you to Sammy. He is a beautiful German doll made by J.D. Kestner - King of Dolls. Sammy is incised on the back of the head with K. Made in Germany 14 211 J.D.K. and also has the Kestner Pate. His head is pink tinted bisque with stationary blue eyes with lashes painted over and under, heavy brown stroked brows, open mouth painted pink, pink dotted nostrils, pink tinted cheeks, bisque head on fully jointed composition body. He is a bent limb baby. Composition is still in nice condition with some missing at top of legs, spots on wrist, and toes, still very nice. Here is the issue with Sammy - his head has been repaired. Without his wig, you can see the crack but someone did a good job on the repair. I have taken several photos of the crack as it goes around the face from chin to ear to forehead to cheek and back again. When he has his original blonde wig on, it is not noticeable. He was that way when I found him and have displayed him. This is what I believe to have happened and something the buyer must keep in mind when displaying him. I put him on my dry sink for display and he sat there very nicely for all the world to see, then one day I passed by and found him prostrate on his face. Fortunately, there was a soft landing for him so no damage. But, if left in a seated position without reclining him back slightly or propping him up, his hips will swivel and torso will allow him to fall on his face. I think the previous owner found this out the hard way. Anyway, he is still beautiful in his little onesey, sailor suit, knit ankle socks, and soft shoes. If you are not seeking perfection in a doll, Sammy would look great in your collection. Every Doll Lover Must Own a Kestner. I have shown several photos for your review but if you need additional information, please feel free to contact me. Happy Bidding

17" J D K Kestner doll # 237 (made in Germany) Doll De Fillon #38 This doll is marked on the back of the neck: Made in Germany JDK #237 Just below that it says; Doll De Fillon # 38, 1985 The wig and the shoes are missing from this pretty Kestner doll. I see a light glue residue around the forehead area. It looks to be from holding a wig in place??? I have arranged the first five photos so that in the first photo, the doll is is fully clad. Then, I removed each outer later until this JDK doll was wearing her birthday suit! PLEASE NOTE: The elasticity on the waistband of the Lacey beige underpants is completely stretched out. The arms, legs, and the neck are jointed, and are in good working condition. The fingers and the toes are fine! This doll has a pretty face with blue eyes. Overall, this previously owned Kestner Doll is in very good condition, with no chips or cracks.
