Welcome to our auction! Many of you know us as longtime collectors and sellers of antique and vintage Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Easter holiday memorabilia, paper ephemera, antique dolls and toys, and lovely old china and glassware. We are so proud to present an absolutely adorable and difficult-to-find antique bisque-head doll with a sweet, smiling expression that was made in Bavaria Germany sometime after 1884. This darling is mold number 165 and she stands 22 ½” tall. Produced by Gebruder Kuhnlenz, this socket-head child doll has a very sought-after expression! Please meet the adorable Faith – a desirable Victorian little girl with an endearing countenance! She has a decidedly “French” look to her, with gorgeous large almond-shaped eye sockets showcasing her beautiful blue glass sleep eyes. She has hand-painted, multi-stroked eyebrows, hand-painted lower lashes with her original real hair eyelashes as well. She even has hand-painted eyeliner! She has rosy cheeks, a peaches-and-cream complexion, and brick-red lined lips. She has an open mouth with a pleasing smile. Faith even has four little square-cut teeth. She is on an antique composition and wood ball-jointed body. She is marked 285 at the back rim of her head, Ghr 165 K 6 Germany. Fabulous Faith's snowy white antique dress is exquisite and in excellent condition. It has lots of lacy openwork and white embroidery with flowers and feathers and a gorgeous, huge bow. Under her dress she wears an antique half-slip with lace. Her beautiful wig, which is an antique and made from human hair, has lots of bouncing curls and it retains its original soft peachy-pink ribbon bows. This wig has been topped-off with a sweet white antique bonnet with lace and embroidery. Faith is wearing vintage cream-colored socks and black shoes with silver buckles. This little darling’s exact condition is as follows: she has NO damage or repairs to her head whatsoever. Her head has been light-tested and shows NO cracks or hairlines. She has a couple of faint rubs to her pretty cheeks. Her body is in excellent condition but for some reason has some pencil writing on the arms. All of her fingers are present. She has a little bit of mild flaking to her body and a faint crack to one side of her torso. The other side has a shorter spider mark as well. Her eye wax is present, with only a tiny flake to one area of the lid wax. Her sleep eyes work perfectly as they should. All of her clothes are in excellent condition, with only a few brown spots to the waist band of her slip. Her wig is full and luscious. Her stringing is a tiny bit loose but she can still hold a variety of pretty poses. This is a doll that would bring joy to so many, especially for those who enjoy adding harder-to-find models to their collection. The charming Faith would make an ideal acquisition for any doll enthusiast! Founded by brothers; Julius, Bruno and Cuno Kuhnlenz in 1884, their porcelain factory was located in Kronach, Bavaria, Germany. They made antique bisque head Dolly face dolls, unique Character face and tiny 7" dolls. It's believed that Kuhnlenz also supplied bisque heads to the French market. Gebrüder Kuhnlenz dolls are of very high quality. WE LOVE OUR BIDDERS! We are thankful for you every day.
